Veterinary drug control and Antimicrobial resistance containment
The Veterinary Medicinal Products and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Containment Section has responsibilities to control the use of veterinary medicinal products and tackle the AMR in food producing animals. We also support and provide the relevant information, such as laws, policies and standards to the producers and consumers. According to the Thailand’s National Strategic Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance 2017-2021, antimicrobial use (AMU) in animals will be reduced by 30% at the end of this plan. In addition, AMR prevention and control and antimicrobial stewardship in agriculture and companion animals has been included in the strategy of this plan. Therefore, we cooperate with multi-sectors to drive and implement the action plans for AMR/AMU monitoring and surveillance along the food chain to meet the national and international standards.
